Alice Dean Tucker-Barge, 77, of Dayton, OH passed away on September 3, 2014 at Miami Valley Hospital. The celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road. Open Visitation will be held between 1 PM to 2 PM. Burial will follow the funeral on Monday morning at the Dayton Veterans National Cemetery at 11:00 AM. The funeral procession will form at Newcomer Funeral Home at 10:15 am.
Alice was born in Electic, Alabama on April 23, 1937. She obtained her GED through attending Night School, while working part-time and raising a family. Alice was married to Wilburn Barge on July 20, 1955; they were married 57 years. Alice worked as a Supervisor in Environmental Services at Good Samaritan Hospital for more than 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed reading, working to beautify her yard, neighborhood, attending church and spending time with her family. He was also actively involved in mentoring young people in the neighborhood for many years and was affectionately referred to as the unofficial mayor of residence park.
Alice is survived by her Mother Louise Bostick, children, Michelle Renee, Ray A. Tucker, Gregory A. Tucker, daughter in laws Basilia and Tamika Tucker, Special nieces and nephews, Debra Cammack, Jackie Finley, Cheryl Payne, Brenda Butler, Michael and Michelle Butler, Douglas Butler, and Terry Butler a host of others her 3 grandchildren Shana Tucker, Issac Beavers and Alex Tucker; her uncle, Benton Bostick and his wife Anne who was also a very special friend; her nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.
Alice is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilburn and son Jeffrey Andre'; as well as her sister, Ola Mae Butler. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
