Alice D. Herzog

Alice D. Herzog, a beacon of love and warmth, departed this world on December 30, 2024, at the age of 88. Born on October 21, 1936, Alice filled every space she inhabited with kindness. Known as a wonderful mom and grandma, she embraced every child who crossed her threshold, offering nurturing care and an open heart.

Alice's life was defined by her deep affection for her family. She is survived by her cherished children: Dale Herzog (Susan), Rodney Herzog (Kelly Flora), and Shawn Herzog (Karen). The joy of her life expanded with the laughter and antics of her 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Each of them carries a piece of her spirit, and she gifted all with memories of love and joy. She was very dedicated and supporting, and she never missed attending one of their events. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family, and friends, all of whom were touched by her selfless generosity and caring nature.

Alice was renowned not only for her unwavering love but also for her remarkable talents. She found happiness in cooking delicious meals, creating beautiful arts and crafts, including quilting and crocheting. These pursuits brought her immense joy and offered comfort to those around her. She also loved watching sports and never missed watching a Cincinnati Red’s game. Additionally, her fondness for playing cards and assembling puzzles created moments of togetherness and fun that will be tellingly missed in the lives she so lovingly enriched.

Her legacy is further woven with the fond memories shared with her late husband, Francis “Gene” Herzog, and her beloved daughters, April Hansard and Jodie Herzog. They, along with her parents, Leo & Mary Ann Arndts, and her 18 brothers and sisters, welcome her now into the eternal embrace of family and love.

Alice’s funeral services will take place on January 7, 2025, at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, OH, with visitation starting at 12:00pm, followed by the service at 1:00pm. After her services, Alice will be laid to rest with her husband at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens. It will be a time for friends and family to come together to honor a life that was a testament to unconditional love, selflessness, and the art of caring for others. As we gather to reflect on her many gifts and the light she brought to our lives, we celebrate Alice, a remarkable woman who will forever remain in our hearts.
