Alice Grooms-Rigdon

GROOMS-RIGDON, Alice B., age 83, of Hillsboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. She is preceded in death by parents, James Hemming and Elsie Wilson; brothers, Paul Thomas, Doug Bryant, Larry Morton, and Harlan Hemming; sisters, Ivy and Linda Hemming, and granddaughter, Angela Gummer.

Alice is survived by her husband, Forrest Grooms; children, Diannia (John) Gummer, Cleveland (Tina) Grooms, Christopher (Tomilina) Grooms, and Christina Lawson (Jamie Craig); grandchildren, Andrea Gummer, Nathan Grooms (Heather Poe), Sondra Gummer (Kevin Bridgewater), Ashley Grooms (Issiac Kemp), Justin (Brittani) Grooms, Kaitlyn Grooms, Joshlin Lawson, Taylor Grooms, and Jenna Lawson; great grandchildren, Kelsey and Matthew McDonald, Emma and Taryn Grooms; adopted great grandchildren, Jorden and Joel Kemp; sisters, Janet Sterry, Geneva Dravenstott, Janet Birdwell, Joan Crabtree, and Eva Blair; brothers, Charles, Chester, and Carl Hemming, as well as numerous other family and friends. She retired from Xenia City Schools and was a member of Hillsboro Bible Baptist Church.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek with funeral services following at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton.
