HALEY, Albert H. Jr, Kettering OH, age 76, born July 26, 1942 went to be with the Lord after a long struggle with cancer on December 30, 2018.
Growing up, his family were founding members of Ascension parish in Kettering, and his life found much fulfillment being involved in many parish activities. His involvement spanned a wide spectrum of activities, from working weekly BINGO, running the Sunday dinner at the annual festival and entering, and winning, awards with the parish float in the Kettering Holiday at Home parade.
He was a founding member of the Happy Travelers, annually guiding friends and relatives to many adventures in state park lodges, flea markets, and many points of interest across the Midwest.
Al worked long and hard to provide a great life for his family, retiring from Dayton Reliable Tool, Beavercreek Rental and Hobby Lobby over the course of his career.
His life was full of love for his family and friends and he will be forever known for his love of a good joke, the joy of laughter even in a bad joke, his huge heart and desire to leave wherever he was better than when he got there. Many family and friends proudly display Christmas and Halloween decorations lovingly made in Uncle Al's basement woodshop.
He was preceded in death by parents Albert H. Sr. and Vivian (Williams) Haley.
Al is survived by his wife Patricia (Wirick), sons Anthony (Liz), Timothy (Kim) and Jeffery (Heather); grandchildren Christopher, Ava, Mary, Walker, Lydia, Free, Ashley and Audrey; sisters Connie (Joe) Nagy and Julie (David) Harshman and their families; special neighbors Marcia and Ken Smith, Lori and Steve Neiman and Anne & Jim Davies; as well as many other family and friends who were privileged to know Al.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at Church of the Ascension in Kettering. Visitation at Ascension Church will take place one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
