Alan H. Ratcliff, age 63, of New Carlisle, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, in the arms of his loving wife, Christine, after his battle with Cancer. He was born in Huntsville, Alabama, on May 28, 1961, the son of Braxton and the late Joyce Ratcliff.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Ratcliff.
Alan is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Christine Ratcliff; father, Braxton (Lavoyce McGee) Ratcliff; his loving children, Jennifer (William) Bryant, Kelly Romano, Ophelia Ratcliff, Colin Ratcliff and Nathan (Kelly) Ratcliff; grandchildren, Samantha, Alexandra, Alexander, Victoria, Noah, Elizabeth, Ariana, Sofia, Talia, Ashtin, Kaitlyn, and Aiden; great grandchildren, Iris and Anthony; siblings, Lyn (Betsy) Ratcliff, Stephen (Sallie Sheldon) Ratcliff and Tami (Alex) Covert; nieces and nephews, Randy (Ben) Province, Simon Ratcliff and Alexander Covert; great niece, Sophia Province; and many other loving family and friends.
In his younger years, he grew up in Ballston Lake, New York. Alan attended Case Western Reserve University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree, after which, he furthered his studies by obtaining his Master’s Degree from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Alan served his country proudly by serving in the United States Air Force. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he worked for many years in the Sensors Directorate as a Branch Chief.
He was a proud member of the Adirondack 46ers, and his love of nature could also be seen from how he enjoyed flying kites (especially on the beach), to gazing upon rainbows and sunsets. The outdoors held a special place in his heart. In his free time, he enjoyed hiking, traveling, video poker, geocaching and working on a number of types of logic puzzles. Alan had a very analytical mind but also a wonderful sense of humor. He was very devoted to those he loved and adored his time spent with his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Pop" and "Pop Pop". Alan was a fighter, a hero to many, and never wanted his Cancer diagnosis to affect those who loved him. He will be greatly missed by the lives he touched.
