Lamb, Adolphus (Al) Jr.
Age 82 of Fairborn, Ohio, died Wednesday May 22, 2013, at Miami Valley Hospital due to illness. He was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to parents Clarsie and Adolphus Lamb. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vernard and George Lamb, stepmother Elma Lamb, daughter Donna Sue Brown, and granddaughter Amanda Slagle.
Al was a dedicated family man, and is survived by his wife of 54 years, Delores (Dodie) Lamb; daughters Linda (Steve) Grulick, Pamela Wightman, Patricia (Kenneth) Roberts, Janet (Joseph) Angi; grandchildren Kimberly Ham, Danielle Roberts, Stephanie Fitzgerald, Jennifer Roberts, Nicole Kaeding, Christine Angi, Christopher Grulick; eight great-grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters.
Al served in the U.S. Navy in Sasebo, Japan, as a member of the Orphans of the Pacific, and later served as their Vice President and Hospitality Chairman. He was a Past Commander of VFW 2800 in Belmont, and was a member of American Legion Post 526 for 23 years. He made ink at NCR, and retired as the Director of Outside Services for Eurand America, in 1992.
He was a member of the Shiloh Sportsman Club since 1979.
Along with his wife Dodie, he traveled to many cities for Orphans of the Pacific reunions. Al also loved camping and spent 22 years at Lake Laramie in Minister, where he was an avid boater and taught his grandchildren to fish.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton. Al will be cremtated and services will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Woodland Mausoleum.
