Addie Thorpe Strong
November 26, 1922 — October 22, 2018
Addie Thorpe Strong, 95, of Springboro, Ohio went to be with the Lord Monday October 22, 2018 at Sycamore Hospital in Miamisburg, Ohio.
Addie was born in Fourseam, Kentucky to James and Willie (Spicer) Thorpe.
She graduated from Breathitt County High School in 1940. She was a beautician in Irvine, Kentucky for many years, the president of the Garden Club in Irvine, and an avid golfer at Estill County Golf Club where she received a hole in one award.
Addie was also very proud to be a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Addie was a devout Baptist and member of Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenna, Kentucky for forty seven years where she served as a Sunday school teacher, and the choir director. She was most recently a member of Miami Shores Baptist Church in Moraine, Ohio.
During her time in Ohio she was involved in the Moraine Senior Citizen Center, the Ding-a-Lings performing group, and the Miami Valley Chorale.
Addie was preceded in death by her husband James Edgar Strong, her sister Betty Jane Russell, brother-in-law Samuel Russell, son-in-law Wayne Brown, nephews Greg and Gary Sigler, and niece Carol James.
Addie is survived by her daughter Sharon Muncie, son-in-law Paul (Sonny) Muncie, her sister Elizabeth (Harold) Sigler, grandson James Shawn (Angie) Metcalf, great-granddaughter Elizabeth Metcalf, great-grandson Andrew Metcalf, and niece Joni (Eddie) McNeese.
She was a role model to her family. She will be remembered for her kindness and zest for life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm at Miami Shores Baptist Church in Moraine.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 3 pm.
To give friends and family in Kentucky the opportunity to say their goodbyes, a second Visitation will be held at Williams Memorial Baptist Church in Ravenna, KY on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1 to 3 pm.
Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Irvine, KY.
