George N. Blake, age 78 of Lake City, FL, formerly Dayton, OH, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021. He was born July 12, 1943 in Huntington, West Virginia, the son of the late James and Ruth Blake.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by several brothers; and paternal grandmother, Bertha Branch.
George is survived by his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" (Strausbaugh); children, Teri (Roger) Blankenship, Brian Blake; grandchildren, Matthew (Heather), Nathan (Becky), Adam, Emily (Zach), and Christian (Alex) Blankenship, Erin (Ted), Ashli, and Audra Blake; great grandchildren, Bayleigh, Briana, Lexi, Brooklynn, Paisley, Autumn, Camden, Avalynn, Wesley, Kadence, Catherine, Damon, and one great grandbaby on the way; as well as brother, Michael Smith.
Throughout his employment in Law Enforcement, George was Chief of Security at Duriron Company Inc, a Police Officer with the Dayton Police Dept., as well as a detective in charge of auto theft with the Manatee County Florida Sheriff's Department. Prior to retiring completely, he worked for Tractor Supply Co. in Lake City, FL. He enjoyed his animals, and leaves behind his 3 dogs, Taz, Teddy, and Shania, his 2 African Gray Parrots, Paca and Bobby Bird, and 7 fainting goats. George had a great love of God, Family, and Country.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439). Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
