John David Collins

John David Collins, 74, of Miamisburg, passed away on November 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 17, 1948, in Wellston, Ohio. John was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Carol, for 37 years. He was a loyal friend to many and a supportive grandpa.

John had a fulfilling career as a City of Dayton firefighter, serving the community for 28 years. He dedicated his life to protecting and helping others, and his bravery and commitment will always be remembered.

Outside of his profession, John had a passion for building and fixing things. He was an excellent handyman, and he always went above and beyond in his projects for his friends and family. John was also an avid golfer. He loved to go to Myrtle Beach, and every year for the last 36 years, he organized a golf trip there with his friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was always there to support his grandchildren at their events. Whether it was cheering them on at sporting events or attending school performances, John cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. John also loved to spend time at the lake, and you could often find him out on his boat with his grandchildren or spending time with his family at the lake house. His loyalty could be clearly seen through his love for the Cleveland Browns and his dedication as an Ohio State football fan.

John is survived by his beloved wife Carol, his daughter Angi (Jake) Dabbelt, his grandchildren Olivia, Matthew, and Samuel, and his granddog Stella. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel David Collins, and his brother, Ken Collins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). A Celebration of Life service will begin at 6:00 pm.

John Collins will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
