Madeline Carol Miller

Madeline Carrol Miller (Hess), 74, formerly of McHenry, IL and more recently a resident of the Enclave of Springboro assisted living facility passed away on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 after a long battle with declining health.
She was born Dec. 11, 1948 in Bluefield, WV to James and Silvia (Williams) Hess. At a young age, she moved to McHenry and attended McHenry High School where she graduated in 1967. She worked as a bookkeeper at a local bank, where she met her husband Terry Michael Miller who recently returned from Vietnam where he served in the U.S. Army. They married on Sept. 30, 1972 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Wonder Lake, IL.
She was a homemaker watching over her two sons until they both started attending school. She then started working a number of local part-time jobs around McHenry, including Sullivan Foods and eventually settling on cleaning houses. She volunteered for the PTO and later the Athletic Boosters, where she enjoyed watching her sons grow up playing baseball and football. She was a natural nurturer taking care of her father, mother, father-in-law, and other relatives through failing health. Finally taking care of her husband through his battle with cancer. She also watched over her many "clients," spending as much time catching up with their lives as she did cleaning their homes. She spent much of her free time with her best friend Marina, many times helping out in her restaurant.
In 2010 she lost her husband of 38 years and in 2017 moved to Centerville, OH to be closer to her two sons and her four grandchildren. Survivors include her sons; Jake of Tampa, FL and Ryan (Kate) of Centerville, OH; her grandchildren Terrance, Logan, A.J. and Sami; her sister Hallie Rischard; and her nephew George (Paula) and his children Lily and Maggie.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Silvia, her husband Terry and Hallie's husband Scott.
