Lucy Ann Johnson

January 17, 1937 — February 4, 2023

Lucy Ann (Thompson) Johnson, also affectionately known as "MomMom", departed her earthly body on Feb.4th 2023, at Trinity Community of Beavercreek. Lucy was born in Wilberforce, Ohio, on Jan.17th 1937. She was born to Emma (Banks) and James Thompson.

Lucy was a wonderful baker, she learned how to bake by watching her grandmother (Ma Banks) and her mother in the kitchen. Lucy began working in the dining room of Wilberforce University as a line server in the 70's. Lucy worked her way up to working in the presidential dining room when the president requested Apple Pies with crumble topping and crescent rolls. Lucy worked all the way up to becoming head baker of the university until she retired in the 1980's. She's became famously known for her "Chocolate Chip Cake". Lucy spent a lifetime in one way or another feeding her extended Wilberforce family, but she loved cooking and baking for her own family. Lucy was a member of First United Christian Church where she started attending at a young age with her family. Lucy served on many boards and committees while being a member. She attended every Sunday dressed in only her Sunday best with everything matching even her jewelry. She loved her church and church family, where she was known as sister Lucy or Grandma Lucy to many.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Claude Thomas (Chris). One sister, Carol Jean Parker, and 4 children, Gordon (Billy) Austin, Cecilia Marie Johnson, Poncho Johnson, and Matthew Robert (Bobby) Johnson. Grandson, Hayden Jackson and Best friend, Margret Jasper.

Lucy is survived by sisters, Cordelia Hill of Wilberforce, Oh and Betty Cox of Avendale, Va. Her children, Julia (Yancey) Johnson, Johnny (Norma) Johnson, Tom`e Johnson and Conrad Johnson. Daughter in laws, Linda Austin and Joey Johnson; 49 grandchildren, Troy (Tam`eeka), Tony, Jamie, Willy (Falisha), Courtney, Nickie (Byron), Sharay, De'angelo (Tanna), Jauffet, Erik (Abigail), Aries (Ja'Nai), Brooke, Jordan (Darnell), Sydney, Mason, Madison, Julian, Baiyinah, Summayah, Amina, Maryam, Abdual Aziz, Helema, Tasneem, Jannah, Zakariyya, Zayd, Alasjaun (Aj), Asis (Albert), Arron, Alisha, Anita, Ambra, Christopher (lil Chris), Dameon, Anisha, Sharee, Mison, Cecilia, and La'Shayra; 50+ great-grandchildren, 7 (almost 9) Great Great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucy loved to spend time with her large, beautiful family, as well as enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Lucy was truly The Best Matriarch of her family. She will be missed dearly. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Special thank you to Trinity Community of Beavercreek, Alexis and Mimi of Ohio Hospice, and Newcomer Funeral home.
