On Thursday, August 25th, William Todd Shockey, loving brother and uncle of eight nieces and nephews, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 59. Todd was born on June 6, 1963 in Dayton, Ohio to Judy Smith and Carlos Shockey. He attended Fairmont East High School, class of 1981, before going on to serve in the Armed Forces. Todd bravely served in the military for 5 years and was a proud veteran.
Todd was a local business owner, including recently acquiring Deer Run Lodge in Miamisburg and working on its renovations. He was a friend to all with an unbelievable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, usually leading to shared laughs. Todd's friends and loved ones can attest to his humor and how he was quick to make those around him smile. While Todd struggled with alcohol addiction early in life, he managed to overcome these struggles and went on to live his last 20 years sober and as a sponsor and mentor to many. His resiliency, big heart, and compassionate spirit taught him how to give second and even third or fourth chances to those around him, as his loved ones had done for him. He loved golf, the Buckeyes, and was fiercely proud of his nieces and nephews.
Todd was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Smith and his father, Carlos Shockey. He is survived by his sisters Tammy Roddy and Tonia Watkins, and his nieces and nephews; Kailee Hagerty, Darbee Hagerty, Malloree Hagerty, Avalee Hagerty, Croft Hagerty, Austin Helton, Morgan Watkins and Emma Watkins. Cousins Anthony Ashbrook and Debbie Hampton A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7th, 2022 at 2:30 pm at Miami Valley Memory Gardens followed by a celebration of life at Deer Run Lodge from 5 to 7 pm.
