Willie Newberry Jr.

Willie Newberry Jr., 85, of Dayton, Ohio, peacefully went home to the Lord on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in Severn, Maryland. He was born July 10, 1936 in Goshen, Alabama, to the late Willie and Ethel Newberry Sr.
Willie attended Goshen High school and briefly studied at Alabama State University. Willie moved to Dayton in the late 1950's where he was employed at Monarch Marking Systems-Pitney Bowes for over 35 years as a Machine Operator Manager.
At an early age, Willie gave his life to Christ and joined Goshen Baptist Church alongside his family. In his later years, Willie co-founded and served as Lead Pastor of Pilgrim Faith Missionary Baptist Church, previously located on Germantown Street, Dayton, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Annie Tellis, Charity (Joe) Williams, Arthur Mae (Jimmie Lee) Wingard; and most recently, his daughter Angela Newberry and son Arron Newberry; and the mother of his children, Mary Newberry.
Willie leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, one daughter, Wanda (Kevin) Withers, of Severn, MD; one son, Mark Anthony Newberry, of Dayton, OH; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; former wife, Gerri Newberry; special friends, Melvin Radford and Charles Banks; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Corinthian Baptist Church (700 S. James H. McGee Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45402). Funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. His final resting place will be West Memory Gardens.
