John Thomas

John Thomas, age 62 of Fairborn, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born December 17, 1959 in Gadsden, Alabama the son of the late Edwin and Lila Thomas.

John graduated from Jacksonville State and Gadsden State with a bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences. He worked for the City of Dayton for 10 years as a Computer Analyst and owned Streeling Observatory. He enjoyed astronomy, history, reading and photography. He was a member of the Cincinnati Astronomical Society, the Astronomical League and Mars Society. John made many presentations to children about astronomy and mars over the years; they just adored him. He was an active and faithful member of Hope United Methodist Church for the past 24 years.

He is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles and cousin, Judy.

John is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lesley; son, Preston Thomas; brother, Alfred Thomas; mother-in-law, Sylvia Gochneaur; sisters-In-Law, Kim Holland & Kerry (Earl) Shaneyfelt; brother-in-law, Duane Gochneaur; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Chronic Inflammatory Demylenating Polyneuropathy Foundation International in John's honor at www.gbs-cidp.org/donate/

A Memorial Service will be held at Hope United Methodist Church on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1:00 pm and at Baumgardener Funeral Home in Andover, Ohio at a later date.
