Lawrence Douglas Vance, age 72 of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born September 10, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Palmer and Betty Vance.
Larry was a loving husband and family man. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War (1969-1970). He retired from Meijer Distribution after over 20 years. He was a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Vandalia. Larry was home-body, was quiet, reserved and soft-spoken, and was known for listening to his country music and oldies.
Larry will be missed by his loving wife, Vickie; sister, Judy Brookshire; brother, Joseph Vance; three step-children, Phillip (Jen) Boyer, Jennifer (Dean) Zoller and Bonnie Rothen; step-grandchildren, Alicia Welz, Lon (Renee) Welz, Maryann Welz, Cody (MaKayla) Zoller, Brittany Zoller, Taylor Zoller, PJ (Christina) Boyer, Chasity (Mike) Blake, Destiny Boyer, Bradley Boyer, Amber Riddle, Destiny Riddle, and Chris Riddle; nieces, Anna Marie Vance, Elayne Grace Vance, and Sarah Hunt; nephews, Jason Brookshire, and Jeremy Brookshire; numerous great grandchildren; uncle, Edward "Shorty" Joyce; aunt, Karin Jung; and his old hound dog, Bud.
Family will receive friends Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 5 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Larry's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers.
