Donald Ray Harmon, 73, of Dayton, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Saviour on November 11, 2021.
Don was many things to many people. He was a husband, father, Bud/Papaw/Grandpa/GPa, builder, golfer, and friend. His devotion to his family was second only to his devotion to God. He served many years as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon at his local church. Although he was a faithful servant within his congregation, his most impactful testimony was his everyday life. He poured out his love to everyone that he came in contact with through his faith, generosity, strength, and laughter.
Don was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Clarence and Alice Harmon on April 27, 1948. He graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1966 and attended UEL College. He married Barbara Rivenburgh in 1978. Learning skills and traits from his father, Don worked as a carpenter, building Duff's restaurants and later created and managed his own company constructing custom residential homes. He faithfully served, attended, and contributed to local churches; most recently, Victory Christian Church in Kettering.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alice Harmon; his sister, Martha Plummer; and his brothers, Clifford and Marvin Harmon. He is survived by wife Barbara Harmon; children and their spouses: Kim & Tim Hergenrather, Kris & Jack (Bub) Kuhn, Mandie & Nate Medcalf, Ryan & Sarah Harmon and Stephanie & Vince Mauro; grandchildren, Josh, Ashlyn, Abrielle, Elyana, Faith, Landon, Jaedyn, Nico, Austin, Adriana, Emma Kate, and Gino; siblings, Elsie, Betty, Roy, and Ron; and many other family members and friends.
Celebration of life services will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, November 15 at SouthBrook Christian Church Reverie (9095 Washington Church Rd in Miamisburg, OH). Services will also be streamed on Facebook Live at Don Harmon Memorial (https://bit.ly/3Hglhzn).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Don Harmon Memorial Fund which will be used to purchase a bench to honor him at one of his favorite places to walk, Cox Arboretum. The family would also like to donate to Hospice of Dayton and Victory Christian Church. Donations collected through Venmo (@don-harmon-8) and PayPal (@drhmemorial).
