James Joseph Cox, age 83 of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born August 27, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Vernon and Lauretta Cox.
Jim was a great dad and grandfather. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from General Motors. Jim was full of life, had the greatest attitude and was always persevering. He was gregarious, liked to have fun, and loved a good joke. From the time he woke up in the morning until the time he turned in to bed, Jim could always be heard humming or whistling. Jim was a great guy with a huge heart for the underdog.
Jim liked to travel, especially visiting the water. He was a huge animal lover, liked fishing, playing cards with his buddies, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Cleveland Browns. He was a good cook, enjoyed watching Westerns and he also liked listening to Opera music. He was a good role model to his family and will be dearly missed by them.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta.
Jim will be missed by his son, Steven Cox; daughter, Andrea (Ronnie) Hall; grandson, Brandon Cox; siblings, Linda (Michael) Novak and David (Phyllis) Cox; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Family will receive friends Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton.
