Jean Benson, age 93, of Moraine, passed away peacefully at home on August 21, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 2, 1928 in Frenchburg, KY to the late John M. and Nannie (Egleston) Profitt, the 2nd born of 5 children.
She attended First Freedom Independent Church in Moraine for many years. Jean retired from Woody's Restaurant after 30 years. After her retirement Woody still called her in to make her specialties.
Jean loved to watch UK basketball and the Cincinnati Reds baseball. She had a green thumb and was known for her flowers and houseplants. Most of all Jean loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and family
.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years James Benson, children Kelly Jordan and Diane Elza, granddaughter Angela Zambrano along with her siblings Gordon Profitt, Maxine Little, Densil Profitt and Janice Crider.
Jean is survived by her children Linda (Duane) Wampler, Jeanne (Tom) Lawson, Terry (Robin) Benson, Kimberly (Jim) Dapore and Tina (Jimmy) Penrod, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean was a strong lady, a hard worker, loving mother of 7 dedicated and caring children and a loving grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
Jean's family would like to thank Hospice of Dayton for the great care she received.
Visitation will be held on Thursday August 26, 2021 from 12:00 pm until time of service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
If desired, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Miami Valley Chapter, 31 W. Whipp Road, Dayton, OH 45459.
