George Jewett, Jr.

George Jewett Jr., age 87 departed from this life March 15th, 2021 after a long battle of recovery with his wife and daughter in Monroe, North Carolina. George was born January 12th, 1934, to George and Estella Jewett, the youngest of ten children. George spent his childhood helping tend to the family's farm in Mount Sterling, Kentucky where they raised all types of livestock as well as grew, harvested and sold produce throughout the town. In November 1952, George relocated to Dayton, Ohio and joined the U.S. Army Corps serving in the Korean War for two years. While he served he ranked up to E-5 Sergeant leading a troop of soldiers. He also was awarded a Bronze Star, Korean Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Nation Defense Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. Once he served his time in the Army, George continued his hard work to provide for his family. George worked for General Motors for 25 years and retired in March 1993. George was a wise man of few words; he truly loved his family along with his friends and wouldn't hesitate to help when he was needed.

George is preceded in death by his parents George and Estella Jewett, all nine of his siblings, and his son George Jemal Jewett. George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eldora Marie Jewett, daughter Teria Jewett and Daryl (Tammy) Johnson. He leaves 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grand children, a devoted friend Jack Johnson, a sister-in-law Shirley Jones, a host of nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Lady. George's physical presence will truly be missed but we know he'll always reside in our hearts. The Jewett Family appreciates all of your condolences and love in this troubling time and would like everyone to know not one act of kindness has been unnoticed. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we grieve.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 1st, 2021, from 9:00am-11:00am, at Abundant Life Christ Centered Ministries, 4769 Free Pike, Trotwood, OH 45416. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am, immediately following the Visitation, and will be officiated by Pastor Joel C. Lofton. Burial will be held privately for the family at Dayton National Cemetery.
