Romans Boyd

Romans Anthony Boyd "Tony", age 87 of New Carlisle, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. He was born February 24, 1934 in Buchanan County, Virginia to the late Uris and Maudie Boyd.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Bettie Sue Boyd; son, David A. Boyd; and sisters, Ina Keen and Jeanette Clifton.


Tony will be missed by his children, Timothy (Terri) Boyd and Sandra (Steve) Olin; daughter-in-law, Sandra Boyd; grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Williams, David R. Boyd, Tammi Mercier, Heather Miller, Tim Boyd II, Casey Scheff, Kristina Gambill, Crystal Olin, and Alexis Hetzel; 16 great-grandchildren, Evan, Emma, Braelyn, Jordyn, Brooke, Ava, Cruz, Jace, Ryder, McKenzie, Camron, Roman, Rani, Brody, Makayla, Aubree and Baby Boyd on the way; and siblings, Ray Boyd, Shirley Short, Bill Boyd, James Boyd, Uris Boyd, Ann Dooley, Audrey Barlow, Pete Boyd, Gertie Boyd and Lonnie Boyd.

Tony was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years. He then worked as a civil servant at the VA Hospital in Dayton for another 20 years, retiring from there. He loved bluegrass music and enjoyed going to concerts. He was also an avid hunter.

Family will receive friends Thursday, March 25, 2021 from 12 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Interment Byron Cemetery. The state of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face masks be worn in all public places. Contributions may be made in Tony's memory to the Hospice of Dayton or the Fisher House at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
