Doris Jean Rutherford, age 76 of Dayton, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at the Hospice of Dayton. She was born February 3, 1945 in Winder, Georgia the daughter of the late Jimmie and Gladys (Hunter) Wyatt.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Rutherford and brother, Grady Wyatt.
Doris is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Tara and Harvey Trent; grandsons, Christopher Brown-Lee and Jalen Brown; great-granddaughter, Esmeray Brown-Lee; sister, Valerie Wyatt; nieces, Nykita Wyatt Sistrunk and Sherita Brown; nephew, Kevin Mickens; special friend of over 70 years, Shirley Williams; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and her parakeet, Jimbo.
Doris retired from the Montgomery County Department of Job and Family Services in 2004 after many years of devoted service. She was an avid reader who enjoyed history, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Doris was a wonderful story teller who mostly loved spending time with her beloved family.
No public services will be held at this time.
Mrs. Rutherford's family would like to thank her care giver, Tyson and the staff at the Hospice of Dayton for their loving care of Doris.
