William James Batin, age 91 of Dayton, OH passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He was born April 16, 1929 in Dayton, OH to William James and Pauline (Szabo) Batin. Bill married Sara Rosati on July 31, 1954 at Holy Trinity Church in Dayton, OH.
Bill was a true man of God. He lived his life as a true follower of Christ and his example was an inspiration to every one who knew him. He was a quiet, meek and humble man who took great pleasure in the simple things of life. As a devoted husband and father of eight children, he spent his life nurturing his family through the eyes of his faith. He loved the great outdoors and exploring the wonders of nature. One of his loves was tending to his rose garden where he found peace and beauty. Bill's tremendous, unshakeable faith provided peace, contentment and joy throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill is survived by his eight children; three daughters, Mary Batin, Therese (Michael) Slyby and Cathy (Richard Huffman) Batin; five sons, Chris (Heather), Joe (Barbara), Jim (Sharon), Bill (Mary) and Tony (Kristi) Batin; fifteen grandchildren, Julie and Jennifer Slyby, Nicholas and Emily Batin, Talon Batin, Gregory and Leigha, Amber Brock, Sierra, Selena, Lilly and Jasmine Huffman, Jennifer (Russ) Traufler, Chris (Sarah) Batin, Cathy (Rick) Gibson and Bruce (Ron Smith) Batin; nine great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Batin; a niece, Diane Schneider; and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 64 years, Sara.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 from 9:00 to 9:45 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 272 Bainbridge Street, Dayton, OH. Mass of the Christian Burial will follow the visitation at the church at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
