Helen Irene (Segui) Godfrey, 96 years old, transitioned peacefully on Sunday, January 3rd, 2021 at Rest Haven of Greenville, Ohio.
Helen was born January 7th, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio to Vernon and Leona (Gross) Segui. She was proceeded in death by her Parents; Her brothers: Robert Segui, Richard Segui, Her sisters: Agatha Schmid (and husband John), Madonna Schweikhart (and husband Bernard), Marianna O'Brien (and husband Pat), Vernadele Lucas (and husband Jim), and Amelia Segui.
She also joined her loving husband of 64 years: George A. Godfrey Jr., Her sons: George Godfrey and Richard Godfrey. As well as two Great Grandchildren; Parker Newnam and Lexi Newnam. She is survived by her children and Grandchildren: Theresa Sarver (Dave Marshall), Robert Godfrey (Paula) and daughter in law Susie Godfrey.
Honoring her legacy are her 7 grandchildren: Monica Kemp (Josh), Brian Godfrey, Joe Newnam, David Godfrey (Darcy Warren), Stephanie Heilegenberg, Sarah Sarver (Jesse Phillabaum), and Kristen Vititoe (Eric). As well as 11 Great Grandchildren: James Black (Ashley Bower), Tim Black, Kirstin Kemp, Tanner Kemp, Brooklynn Black, Kaidan Godfrey, Quinn Godfrey, Liam Heiligenberg, Emmitt Heiligenberg, Elias Phillabaum, Sullivan Phillabaum and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was a loving wife, mother to biological and foster children and a proud homemaker. She had a lifelong passion for family genealogy and was a phenomenal cook and baker. She could often be found reading a book and was always admired for her beautiful penmanship. Helen was known for her devotion to the Saints and her love of angels. As well as her standard of cleanliness and organization. Anyone who spoke with Helen felt the love and acceptance she shared for all people. She is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Rest Haven and State of the Heart Hospice of Greenville for their great care and support. Donations are welcomed to these organizations in honor of Helen.
Due to COVID safety concerns, Catholic Mass will be omitted and a private funeral will be held for the immediate family Wednesday, January, 13th 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Chapel. Graveside prayers at Calvary Cemetery immediately following. A video recording of the day will be available to all who request it. A proper memorial and cele-bration of life will take place at a later date once public health restrictions lift.
