Betty Jean Johnson

May 5, 1962 — July 2, 2020

Betty Johnson was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend and the greatest mother. She enjoyed sports, being outdoors, traveling, and her cats, (Molly and Thomas). She was adventurous and competitive and despite being a private person she would shine, and stand up for not only her friends but those in need. She absolutely loved and kept her friends dear to her heart.

Betty was the embodiment of love, faith, and perseverance.

LOVE- She loved her son, Landon. Words cannot express the special relationship they shared. He was her world and she loved him fiercely. She loved her family, so much so that she began doing research on our ancestry to ensure we would all know from where we came. Her love was also expressed in calls or texts. She never missed a holiday or birthday. Always sending her love from afar no matter the distance or time between us.

FAITH - Her faith in God was unwavering. She was a devout Christian and active in Church. A praying woman, trusting in the Lord in all things, and always kept those near and dear to her heart in her prayers. Anytime she would text me, she would always let me know that she was praying for me and our family.

PERSEVERANCE - Betty was a make lemonade out of lemons type of person. No matter the curveball life threw her, she kept a positive disposition and a smile on her face. Through multiple health issues, she kept her faith, and trusted that God would see her through. The forever optimist, even on the bad days, as long as she had faith and love, she would be okay, she would persevere, and she did.

Mother to Son BY LANGSTON HUGHES

Well, son, I'll tell you:

Life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

It's had tacks in it,

And splinters,

And boards torn up,

And places with no carpet on the floor—

Bare.

But all the time

I'se been a-climbing' on,

And reachin' landin's,

And turnin' corners,

And sometimes goin' in the dark

Where there ain't been no light.

So boy, don't you turn back.

Don't you set down on the steps

'Cause you finds it's kinder hard.

Don't you fall now—

For I'se still goin', honey,

I'se still climbin',

And life for me ain't been no crystal stair.

My Mother was a saint amongst sinners!

Who never faltered!

I seriously doubt you'll ever meet another.

Much love from our family.

Sincerely, Landon Johnson
