Robert "Bob" James Whipple, age 77, of Huber Heights, passed away July 5, 2020, at Grandview Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was born in Flushing, New York, on May 21, 1943, the son of the late Robert and Alice (Terrney) Whipple.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Michael Whipple and Randy Clayton; step-mother, Carol Whipple; and previous wife, Jane Schaumleffel Whipple.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Gladys Whipple; children, Lisa (David Anzelc) Barton, Michelle Shock and Todd Whipple; grandchildren, Kayla, Kara, Takoda and Emma; great grandsons, Logan and Gunther; sister, Peggy (Bruce) Sadow; and many other loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Bob served his country proudly during the Vietnam War, serving in the Air Force. He retired from DESC, where he was a member of the Police Dept. and also was employed with the Enon Police Dept. After his retirement, he still worked with the Enon Police Dept. and for Grandview Hospital. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4424 for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed coaching softball, football and volleyball for his kids and grandkids. Bob adored his family and spending time with them. He was lovingly referred to by many as "Charmin" and "Mr. Whipple" will be freely squeezing the Charmin in Heaven.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 10:00 am, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Rd., Huber Heights.
