Harold Elbert Fannin

January 13, 1926 — June 14, 2020

Harold Elbert Fannin, age 94 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020 at Dayton V.A. Medical Center. He was born January 13, 1926 in Fullerton, Kentucky to the late Mordecai and Shirley Fannin.

Harold was a proud WWII Navy Veteran and served on the U.S.S. Suwannee CVE 27. He was also a student of the Bible. Harold loved his family, worked hard his whole life, was a good listener and friend and was proud of his country.

Harold was a supporter of his daughter's Martial Arts students and adopted Lani Ritchie as his granddaughter as well as Arrika Knisley, Katherine Fischer and Katheryn Hickle. He was a proud constant there, always encouraging and supporting them.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (Soummers) Fannin; children, Daniel Joseph,, Michael E., Joseph Harold, Samuel Eugene and Rebecca Marie Burgher; granddaughter, Ashley Gill; five brothers, Ralph, Ray, Elva, Joe and Roy; and sister, Melda Cope.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Carol Jean (Joseph) Apple; son, Ralph Patrick Fannin; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.

Services were held at the Victory Ridge VA Hospice in his honor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Harold's memory to the VA Hospice Fund, VA Medical Center, 4100 W. 3rd St., Dayton, Ohio, 45428.
