Roger Lee Young, age 78 of Dayton, passed away February 7, 2020. He was born March 7, 1941 in Gainesboro, Tennessee to the late Ed Tom and Stella Young. In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Young; and brothers: U.L. Young, Willie Young and Alvin Clay Young.
Roger is survived by his son, Douglas Young; grandchildren: Corey and Zachary; brothers and sisters: Danny Young (Brenda), Eddie Young (Linda), Frances Wright, Wanda Young, Alta Mae "Sis" Miller (Dick), Linda Brown (Taylor), June Young (Jerry) and Mary Richards; very special girlfriend, Michelle and her children: Cole, Christian and Crystal; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roger was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Vietnam War. Roger worked construction for most of his life, and became very close friends with his boss, Don Hoff. Roger was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing. He belonged to numerous VFW groups, loved NASCAR and bluegrass music.
Private services will be held for the family. Burial and military honors will take place at Dayton National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer North Chapel, Dayton, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Newcomer Funeral Home to help with final expenses.
