Laura Shaneyfelt

Laura Shaneyfelt, age 51, of Kettering, passed away January 12, 2020 surrounded by her immediate family.

She was born May 12, 1968 in Dayton, Ohio to Jerome and Constance (Loeb) Leo. Laura graduated from Chaminade Julienne High School, Class of 1986. During high school, Laura was involved with softball and soccer. She went on to earn her Associates degree while playing softball for Sinclair College. She continued to be active in adult softball leagues. Laura worked for Attorney Merideth Trott for 33 years in private practice and transitioning to Dinsmore and Shohl Law Firm. Laura also worked for Kohler Foods on & off most of her adult life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Leo, and her nephew, Jacob Barker. Laura is survived by her 2 beloved children, Mara Shaneyfelt, and Tyler Shaneyfelt; her mother, Connie Leo; her sister, Lisa (Doug) Gaffney; niece, Christina (Ryan) Childers; nephew, Forrest Smith; nieces, Stephanie (Ben) Hout, Leah (Mike) Reilly, and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other loved ones.

Family was most important to Laura. She played an intricate part in her children's extracurricular activities supporting them in whatever they did. Through this she has gained the support and love from friends who became family. Laura's strength and grace has inspired and touched many, those who have met her and beyond. Throughout many of life's challenges she continued her selfless acts of love, putting others before her. Her legacy will continue to shine through all of those who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 and from 9:00 am until time of service at 10 am on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd.

A Celebration of Laura's life will follow immediately after the services at the Presidential Banquet Center, 4548 Presidential Way, Kettering, 45429. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Laura's memory. Donations for Mara & Tyler can be made at any Wright Patt Credit Union in the name of "Laura Shaneyfelt Memorial Fund, Account# 7930148.
