Infant Calan Michael Tucker, was born into heaven on September 1, 2019 at the Kettering Medical Center.
Calan was the son to Jordan and Alison (Concha) Tucker of Kettering, OH.
Little Calan touched so many lives during the brief time he was with us. He defied all odds and blessed our lives for 33 life-changing weeks. At 23 weeks he was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, or Trisomy 21, along with an atrioventricular septal defect. This painful news only strengthened his parents' love for him. After spending every moment of every day trying to do right by him, Jordan and Ali connected with Jessie and Stephen. They dreamed of offering every opportunity that they feared they could not. Through the love and support of the National Down Syndrome Adoption Network, as well as Choosing Hope Adoptions, a plan was made to give him the best possible life with two families that loved him unconditionally. His doctors said he was likely to be smaller and weaker than other babies. He was not. Every ultrasound showed that he was bigger and stronger than before. His mommy noticed that he was exceptional and treasured every moment with him. He was loved beyond measure by more people than most children ever experience. He entered our cruel world through an all-natural breech delivery on September 1, 2019. He never knew suffering but he felt love during every second of his existence. Along with his loving parents, Calan is survived by his brothers, Liam David, Lance Carrol, Rowan James, Raif Omar Tucker; sister, Catalina Mae Tucker; maternal grandfather, Raúl (Jennifer) Concha; maternal grandmother, Denise (Aubrey) Kelley; paternal grandparents, Neal and Robin Tucker; maternal great-grandparents, Dr. David and Nancy Small; maternal great- grandmother, Belia Obregón; maternal great-grandfather, Valentín Concha; paternal great-grandparents, Gilbert and Judy Novak; paternal great-grandmother, Mary Jo Tucker; prospective parents, Stephen and Jessica Brotherton; paternal uncle, Scott Tucker, maternal aunts, Alexandra Gundrum and Rachel Heuker.
Baby Calan was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandfather, Max Tucker.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 5:00 pm. with Calan's grandfather, Pastor Raúl Concha officiating. Cremation will take place at a later date.
