Zella Inez Brooks, age 85 of Dayton, passed away on August 1, 2019. She was born in Harrogate, TN on January 17, 1934, to the late Robert K. and Ninnie D. (Carmack) Fleemon.
In addition to her parents, Zella was preceded in death by her 8 siblings, Maudie Burchett, Juanita Sumpter, Marie Lester, Ona Lee Thomas, Eula Grey Mayes, Homer Fleemon, Martha Lester and Junior Fleemon.
Zella is survived by her loving husband, Billy Joe Brooks; 3 children, Michael (Wendy) Brooks, Teresa (Danny) Keen and Donita (Larry) Henry; grandchildren, Graham (Shannon) Brooks, Ian (Misty) Brooks, Caleb Brooks, Sabrina Brooks, Ashley (Ben) Davis, Brittany (Aaron) Fouts, Nathan Henry and Eric Henry; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn Brooks, Connor Brooks, Kyle Brooks, Camden Brooks, Chrishelle Cox, C.J. Pooler, Carl Cox, Trinton Houston and Jonathan Davis; sister, Jeniece Britton and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
Zella was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairborn. She worked and retired from JC Penney. Her pastimes included sewing, gardening and cooking. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at First Baptist Church of Fairborn (1167 Highview Drive, Fairborn, OH 45324). Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
