Jerome Edward "Jerry" Herbert, age 69, of Centerville, Ohio passed away on June 13, 2019. Jerry was born on February 9, 1950 in Dayton, OH. He was the son of Elmer L. and Ruth (Klinger) Herbert. On March 14,1986 Jerry married Nancy Nielsen in Tucson, AZ.
For over 4 decades Jerry was a dedicated respiratory therapist. He was a member of Christ The Servant Lutheran Church in Conway, South Carolina. Jerry was long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite in Dayton where he became a 32nd Degree Mason. He continued to be a dedicated Mason after moving to South Carolina where he was the Worthy Patron of the Waccamaw Chapter of Eastern Star in Conway, SC.
In his spare time, Jerry was an avid fisherman. He could build and repair anything, he was considered by his family and close friends "Mr. Fix-It." His greatest achievement in his life was "Building" a family. Jerry was also an artist that could make decorative window panels and chandeliers from pieces of stained-glass. Jerry enjoyed spending time at home working in his garden and cooking with his family and friends. If you let him, Jerry would spoil you, he saw the best in everybody. Jerry's personality, love for people and his contagious sense of humor will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Along with his wife, Nancy, Jerry is survived by his daughter, Wendy Seyfer; son, David Seyfer; sister, Susan (James) Donauer; brother, Michael (Sharon) Herbert; grandson, Dereck (Elizabeth) Baldwin; granddaughter, Kayla (Kaivan) Carter; special nieces, Larrisa (Brittany) Schultz and Raven Nielsen; great-grandson, Kieran Carter; great-granddaughters, Leighton and Mira Baldwin; nieces, Laura (Eric) Scheper, Lisa Donauer, Amie Herbert and Cherie Hibbard; and grandniece, Lola Nielsen. Jerry was also survived by additional family and many close and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5550 Munger Road, Dayton from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. A memorial ceremony for Jerry will immediately follow the visitation with John Mittermaier officiating. Guests attending Jerry's memorial ceremony are invited to join his family for his burial at Calvary Cemetery.
