Wallace M. Henry, age 82 of Xenia, OH, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1936 in Xenia, OH to Donivan and Bonnie (Matthews) Henry. He married Jean Barney on April 13, 1990 in Vandalia, OH.
Wally graduated from Xenia High School in 1954 and from the Dayton Police Academy in 1958. He obtained an Associates Degree from Sinclair Community College after graduating from the Police Academy. Wally held multiple positions within the Dayton Police Department, served as Chief of Security at the Dayton Convention Center, and returned to the Dayton Police Department, retiring in March of 1991. After retirement he worked security at the Mound, then as a court deputy with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department and as a Federal Marshall in the Federal Courts Building. Wally retired for good in April of 2012, looking forward to spending time with his family at the holidays and birthdays. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Wally is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Jeannie; his two daughters, Donna (George) Dowling and Dianna (Mark) Cordle; his son, Wallace "Wally" (Cynthia) Henry II; a step daughter, Samantha Phillips; a step son, Jeff Banner; seven grandchildren, Marci Dowling, Megan (Nick) Tyler, Molly (Steve) Fennell, Mallory (Zach) Carnes, Cody and Conner Henry, and Corrie Phillips; six great grandchildren, Grace, Hudson, Wyatt, Gage, Emma and Allison; three brothers, Patrick Henry, Donivan Henry and Michael (Zimmie) Henry; a sister, Dawn Eifler; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Buddy and Dale Henry.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals and Receptions, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, OH 45432. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow the cemetery at Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, OH.
