Thomas Baker Jr., age 71 of Kettering, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at LifeCare Hospitals of Miamisburg. He was born July 8, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Thomas and Mary (Smith) Baker.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Barney Baker.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lorene (Morgan) Baker; children, Tracey M. Baker and Darron (Melissa) Baker; grandchildren, David, Addison and Samuel and great grandchildren, Avery and Morgan. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.
Tom was a 1965 graduate of Fairmont West High School, Kettering. Later he attended Sinclair Community College to further his education. Tom was employed for a short time at Inland Manufacturing, as a line worker. Throughout his career he was employed as a maintenance and grounds keeper by many local companies including DESC, Wright State University, Valley View Memorial Gardens and Northland Village Apartments. Tom was a Mason with Alpha Lodge F & AM 729 and spent a great deal of time caring for his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, garage sales and visiting Goodwill in his spare time. Tom will always be remembered as good man with a sense of humor, a positive outlook on life and a selfless nature.
Family will receive guests from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, March 13, 2019 Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 14, 2019 also at the funeral home. Procession to Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville for entombment to follow.
