Charles Norman "Charlie" Staup, age 73, of Huber Heights, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 28, 2018. Charlie was born on April 16, 1945 in Beavercreek, Ohio to the late Norman and Myrtle Staup. He graduated from Beavercreek High School in 1963. After graduating, Charlie enlisted into the United States Navy. He faithfully and proudly served his country for 2 years on the USS Yellowstone. After his service, Charlie went on to work for General Motors. After 30 years of loyal employment he retired. He was a member of AmVets Post 0464.
After his retirement, Charlie continued to work as a delivery driver and stayed busy working around his house. Charlie will be greatly missed by his friends at his local watering hole, "RipRap Roadhouse". He was a devoted family man and had an amazing work ethic, which he instilled in his family. He took great pride in his daughters and his grandchildren. Charlie enjoyed mushroom hunting and working on cars in his free time.
Charlie was a loving, generous, and caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his siblings, Pete Staup, Velora Faye Cox, and Connie Whittaker; uncle, Lloyd Staup; and his cousin Richard Staup.
Charlie leaves to cherish his memory, loving daughters, Shari (Michael) Bledsoe, Tami (Bill Hughes) Staup, Lori (Aaron) Ressler, Patti (Daniel) Miller, and Erika (Glen) DeBolt; grandchildren, Chelsea, Cayla, Lakeisha, Ryan, Sophia, Lily, Devin, Ella, Briana, Alissa, Morgan, and Blake; great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jayla, Jayce, and Jaxon; 6 grand-dogs; and many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A celebration of Charlie's life will take place on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Newcomer - North Chapel at 6pm. Visitation for 2 hours prior (4pm-6pm).
In honor of Charlie, please wear your best flannel shirt to his services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to continue his generous spirit of giving, that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Charlie's memory. A charity that held a special place in his heart and to which he frequently gave.
