Jay C. Lee, age 72 of Kettering, passed away Friday, November 30, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 18, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late J. Calvin and Joan Lee.
Jay is survived by his wife of 11 years, Amy L. Lee; siblings, Barbara (James) Lashley and Mark (Mary) Lee; nieces, Kimberly Weir and Suzy (Paul) Hayes; great nephews, Michael, Ryan and Aiden; great niece, Sydney; mother-in-law, Susan Vickers and sisters-in-law, Julie Hauk and Laurie (Jim) Harless as well as close friends, Tom Rogers and Rose Day, Rick and Robyn Hildal, Jeff and Shawn Kesling, Joe and Sue Otten, Jason and Paige Henry, George Gloeckner, Doug Kendall and his large Rugby family.
Jay was a Green Hills Pioneer graduate, class of 1964. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in microbiology in 1974 and became employed by University of Dayton, Biology Department in 1979 as an electron microscopist/staff engineer and received a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering. He also completed his Master's Degree at UD in computer engineering. Jay loved to learn and even returned to school after retiring from his 35-year career with UD, receiving his HVAC certification from Sinclair College.
Jay began a love for Rugby at OSU playing for both the university and the Dayton Area Rugby Club. He was a proud to serve as coach of the University of Dayton Rugby Club. Jay continued his passion for the sport by teaching and coaching players to become referees and was a life-time member of the Dayton Area Rugby Club. Jay was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Order of the Engineer.
Family will receive guests from 10:00 am -12:00 pm Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Kennedy Union Ballroom on the University of Dayton Campus at 300 College Park, Dayton, OH 45469. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon also in the Ballroom and officiated by his niece, Rev. Kimberly Weir. Woodland Cemetery, Dayton will serve as Jay's final resting place.
