Joseph Harris

Joseph (Joe) Harris, age 66, was born on March 2, 1952 in Springfield, Ohio to the late Alonzo and Rosetta Harris.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Vanessa Harris. They were united in Holy Matrimony on May 21, 1994, a 24 year union. To this union were four children: daughter, Ayanna A. Glanton (Dwayne Glanton); sons, Aaron L. Moore, Joseph T. Harris, and David A. Harris (fiancée Brooklyn Rodriguez).

He also leaves to cherish his memories his sister Dora McCanelley; grandchildren, Gregory Glanton, Zion Glanton, Nathanial Moore, Jaylynn Moore, Zachary Clary and Alfonso Hill; his pet dog, Calmly and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, David, Donald, Richard, Jeremiah, Robert, and Frank Harris; sisters, Juanita Harris and Leona Locklear.

Joe was a faithful mighty man of God. He raised his children to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He served dutifully in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from being a self-employed Mechanical Engineer and CEO of Daysys Inc.

In his free time, Joe loved to sing gospel music as he sang for the choirs at several churches including Solid Rock Church expanding over 24 years. He also enjoyed being a master woodcraftsman. Among many of his accomplishments he crafted beds, rocking horses, and a baby cradle for his children that has become a family heirloom and was last used by his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Solid Rock Church, 904 North Union Road, Lebanon, OH 45036. Immediately following the visitation a funeral celebrating Joe's life is scheduled for 3:00pm. with Pastor Darlene Bishop-Druscoll officiating. Burial will take place at 1:45pm at Dayton National Cemetery on Monday, December 3, 2018.
