James Franklin "Jim" or "Woody" Woodward Jr., age 67 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born February 4, 1951 in Anderson, Indiana to the late James F. Sr. and Ruth (Kimmerling) Woodward.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Robert LeRoy Remmert.
He is survived by his sons, Kristopher James (Kara) Woodward and Scott (Jennifer) Woodward; grandchildren, Kaycee (Zach Coffman), Kamryn, Cali, Ryan and Micah; great granddaughter, Stella; mother of his children, Jacki Woodward; sister-in-law, Valerie Remmert and his cat, Jazzy.
Jim was a 1969 graduate of Madison Heights High School in Anderson, IN. He went on to study diesel technology at Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis. Jim's career began with employment at Ryder as a Service manager for over 20 years. He began his family in Columbus, OH and later worked for Walmart Corp. once again in the automotive field as a District Manager. After 8 years of service he moved on to his "retirement" job at Guitar Center as a sales associate. In his spare time, Jim liked to relax with family and enjoyed activities such as playing guitar, golf, cards, X-box and board games.
Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Funeral service will begin 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 7, 2018 also at Newcomer, Kettering. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
