Inus Osman

September 17, 1930 — September 4, 2018

Inus Osman, age 87, of Centerville, Ohio, and formerly Little Rock, Arkansas, was received into the Kingdom of Heaven on September 4, 2018. She was a hard-working God-Fearing woman her entire life: She worked in the restaurant where Colonel Sanders perfected his famous Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe, but would never give up the recipe. Her career included working for McCall's Books and Magazines, and later becoming the world's greatest stay-at-home mom! In the early 70's she returned to work to serve as a nurse's aide at Trinity Nursing Facility for over twenty years. She was involved with the Girl Scouts of America for ten years serving as an assistant leader and leading a troop of her own. With her love of sewing over decades she became a master seamstress, making clothes for her children, and later for her grandchildren. She always had space in her home for "all things sewing" including 5 sewing machines! Along the way, she picked up quilting, and became the go-to person for baby bibs and blankets. Her sewing talent also included making beautiful placemat sets with matching napkins, giving them lovingly to her family and dearest friends. Her love for sewing would keep her content during the cold Ohio winters., but once spring had sprung you couldn't keep her inside. Her overwhelming passion for gardening, and her one-of-a-kind green thumb were unmatched. She could grow anything; bring a dying plant back to life with her care and love. Under her watchful eye, she made every home we lived in more beautiful with her love of the outdoors. We enjoyed summer gardens of tomatoes and cucumbers, and other delicious vegetables; we would have so much fruit, and away thinking of others, she would give her bountiful harvest to her neighbors and stilled canned enough to last our extended families through the winter and into the following spring. When she and her loving husband Russ officially retired, they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas to be closer to one of their daughters. Although they said they retired, it didn't take long before they were busy grandparents helping their granddaughter grow up. They volunteered at school, went to community dances, and took small trips together trying their luck at slot machines. She was content with the penny slots, and let good fortunes follow Russ, as he rarely lost, and, more time than not, won enough to pay for their weekend adventures. They were inseparable for 54 years loving each other fully and completely until his passing in 2013. In her final years, a cruel disease called dementia, also known as Alzheimer's changed her life, and us as a family. Our family loved her to the end, because, even if she didn't know who we were, we knew who she was, and how special she was to us.

Inus was preceded in death by her husband Russ, daughter Opalea Vance, and grandchild Corey Vance.

She is survived by her daughters Sharon (Utterback), Georgia (Marc) Franklin, Erin (Gary) O'Brien; grandchildren Michelle (Chris) Amsler, Christopher (Jennifer) Vance, Alexandra Moran, and Sarah Franklin; great grandchildren Zachary Amsler, Derek Vance, and Leah Amsler.

A memorial service will be held in Arkansas on September 15 at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Alexander, Arkansas. She will be laid to rest with Russ at Forest Hills Cemetery. https://www.dignitymemorial.com/funeral-homes/alexander-ar/pinecrest-funeral-home/8924
