Margaret E. "Peggy" Matthews (nee Early) 5 Nov 1946-9 July 2018
Peggy passed away after an extended illness 9 July at Dayton Hospice.
She is survived by her husband David Matthews, CMSgt USAF (ret), their sons David III (Kristi) with grandchildren Alex and Jenna, Bill (Jenny) with grandchildren Lilly, Gavyn, Vinnie, Freddy and Jack, as well as our daughter-in-law Thayer Anne Thompson.
She grew up in Rantoul Illinois along with her two brothers Steve (Connie) and Stan (Patti) who survive her.
She met her future husband while he was in training at Chanute AFB, Rantoul in October of 1964 and they were married 23 September 1967. Peg supported his career travelling as far as Florida, where David III was born, Arizona, where Bill was born, and finally back to Ohio for the third time where they settled down for keeps to watch their boys get married and give them the blessing of fantastic grand-children.
Peggy was a member of TOPS, attending the same chapter for decades, enjoying bingo and much travel with her best friend Joyce Hizer, and playing euchre with her card club.
The family is deeply indebted to the staffs of Dayspring Health Care Center and Soin Medical Center for their exceptional level of care during her stays with them.
There are no words to describe our love for the staff and volunteers at Dayton Hospice, they are the most caring and compassionate group you could ask for.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 4-8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Dayton Hospice.
