Gino Manzo, age 84, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away May 1, 2018, at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Duronia, Italy to Bernardo Manzo and Lucia Potesta' on July 29, 1933.
In Italy Gino was a carpenter, but became a chef after immigrating to the U.S.A. in 1970. He was head chef at Vito's Italian Restaurant for nearly 20 years, and then managed a dining hall at Bethany Lutheran Village until his retirement in 1999. Gino was an avid golfer, bocce tournament player, and creative tinkerer.
He is survived by his wife, Filomena; daughter: Bernardina (Don) Guichard; sons: Lucio (Lia) Manzo and Tony (Antonella) Manzo; grandchildren: Alessandra, Samantha, Sarah, Adam, Isabella, Domenico, and Massimiliano; great-grandchildren: Julien and Ivy.
Visitation will be at Newcomer South Kettering Chapel on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 2-4pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:30am.
