DETAMORE, Richard Allen, 69, of Kettering passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on Monday, April 23, 2018 after a three year battle with esophageal cancer. He was born in Dayton on August 25, 1948 to the late Lloyd and Ruth (Herzog) Detamore. He married his wife of 44 years, Pamela Jean (Pickle) Detamore at Emmanuel's Catholic Church in Dayton on September 8, 1973. Rick was a 1966 graduate of Beavercreek High School and completed his education with a Bachelor's Degree from Wright State University in 1975. He was a loving husband and father and an accomplished civil engineer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 37 years. He loved fishing, camping and working in his tool shop and he had a quirky sense of humor fueled by plenty of "dad jokes." Rick formerly attended Ascension Catholic Church, Kettering. In addition to his wife, Rick is survived by his children, Mathias Detamore; Thomas Detamore and his wife, Andrea; and Jessica Moffitt and her husband, Jeff; six grandchildren, Caleb, Katelyn, Jake, Kyndrik, Quentin and Luci; three brothers Jim, Larry and Denny; one sister Chris; eleven nieces and nephews; and eleven great nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will begin at 2:00 pm Saturday, May, 5, 2018 at Emmanuel Catholic Church, Franklin St., Dayton. A Celebration of Life will follow Mass also on Saturday from 4:00-7:00 pm at Charles I. Lathrem Senior Center of the Kettering Recreation Complex, 2900 Glengarry Dr., Kettering. Rick's wishes were honored with a private cremation. Special thanks to Hospice of Dayton and their wonderful staff for their incredible support during this difficult transition, making his last few months at home as caring and comfortable as possible.
