Robert L. Speelman "Bob", age 72 of Dayton, unfortunately lost his battle with cancer, possessing a strong heart, courageous spirit and bravely fighting to the very end. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on April 29, 2018. He was born November 14, 1945 in Dayton to the late Ralph and Rose (Stokes) Speelman.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Speelman; daughter, Nicole Speelman; son, Nathan Speelman; brothers, Ralph III (Jan) Speelman and Russell (Sue) Speelman; brother-in-law, Ron (Pat) Prentice; favorite cat, Penny Lane and annoying dog, Lucy; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Bob earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Otterbein College in 1967. He went on to teach math in the Mad River Local School District for 30 years. Bob was a member of Good Guys (NHRA) and attended many car shows with his 1951 Ford Anglia. Following retirement from teaching, Bob worked part time with woodworking and hand crafted many items for family and friends. As an avid sports enthusiast, Bob rooted for the Buckeyes, Blue Jackets and Browns. O H!
Bob was extremely proud of his son and daughter and all their accomplishments. Nicole and Nathan were his greatest joy.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to The Hospice of Dayton, for their compassionate care of Bob during his final days.
