Howard Richard Lewis was born February 7, 1956 to Russell Lewis and the late Barbara Jean Lewis in Dayton, Ohio. Howard was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Jean Lewis; grandparents: William and Ruth Lewis & Myrl and Leonard Clark; and uncle, Charles Lewis.
Howard graduated from Chaminade Julienne High School, Dayton, Ohio in 1974 and went on the attend Central State and RETS Tech. As a young man, Howard was a promising model for Lazarus Department Stores, worked for Burbank Studios in California and also lived in Toronto, Canada for a time. An owner of multiple real estate properties, he also worked for many non-profit facilities and was a local handyman for many friends and family. Howard was a partner and owner in Big Star Productions; he was an avid jazz music lover and had an affinity for Jimi Hendrix. Known as a wonderful cook, Howard often hosted many holiday dinners and family cookouts. He was an avid plant and animal lover. Howard was a very distinctive man, with his perfectly contoured mustache and his great sense of fashion.
Affectionately known as "Dad", "Popz", Grandpa Howard, Uncle Howard, Howard is survived by his father, Russell (Rosemary) Lewis; wife of 30 years, Yvonne Lewis; children: Sharrod (Danielle) Brooks Lewis, Gregory Lewis (fiance, Kamika); grandchildren: Branden, Jalen, Ah'Livia, Ocian, Elyte, Jordan, Kamialynn; sisters: Lee Niata Johnson and Ruth (Mark) Tichner; special cousin, Albon McGinnis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 am until 12 pm on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where a Celebration of Life Service will begin at 12 noon.
