Althea P. Turner

April 20, 1950 — March 14, 2018

Althea Patricia Turner of Kettering, OH went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Althea was born on April 20th, 1950 in Nashville, TN to George Wendal White and Dorothy Calloway Harger. She is the daughter of Don Juan Harger of Sidney, OH, which was her hometown.

She worked for the State of Ohio as a case manager supporting five counties as her profession. Later in her life, she served as a board member of the Miami Valley Housing Authority.

The epitome of style, creativity and individuality, Althea pursued her passions for decades through self-expression. She was a seamstress and an artisan much of which was self-taught. Althea created beautiful clothing, décor and gifts for others, which were expressions of her love. Her individuality, self-confidence and strong will are characteristics that she has passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Althea's will to live is something that very few people can somewhat understand and many cannot fathom. She endured more than many could bear but never allowed that to stop her. She would adapt and find another way. She lived, she loved and she fought illness and disease with grace and dignity. Althea is our mother, sister, grandma, aunt…our Warrior Princess.

Althea was preceded in death by her father and brother, Donnie.

Left to honor Althea are her children: Pete Smith, Mark Smith (Vickie), Bridget (Jamaal) Hickman and Dawn Smith. Six grandchildren, DuJuane, Martaza, Jalyn, Devon, Jayla, Jamillah and two great-grandchildren; Siblings – Donna Harger, Curtis (Melissa) Harger, Diana (Tony) Greathouse and many nieces and nephews.

Rest now Warrior Princess.
