Helen Julia Probst

Helen J. Probst, age 96, passed away at her home on Wednesday February 7, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Probst; parents Alex and Margaret (Zitewitz) Gricus; brother Harry Gricus; sisters Josie Sheets, Eenie Leopold, Patty Gricus and grandson Nathan Hughes.

Helen is survived by her daughters Linda (Alan) Laws and Sharon (Bob) Dryer; sister Maugie Stedron; grandchildren Bobby, Ali, Greg, amazing Tanya and Josh. Great grandchildren Breana, Cody, Brandon, Holly, Tyler and Jason; great great grandchildren Madisyn, Kingston, Lincoln and one on the way; and many other relatives and friends.

Helen was the ultimate caregiver providing care for many years for her husband Harold who was stricken with multiple sclerosis and her sister Patty with cognitive disability. Helen was always there for her family's needs. She was a great cook. She prepared weekly family dinners for her daughters' families, especially her salmon croquettes on Ash Wednesday, all the Christmas cookies she would make for each of them, and the best Peanut Butter Pie.

Family would like to express a special thanks to Helen's caregiver Kelly, who has been of such support since she started her assistance in November of 2016, and really went beyond the call of a caregiver, especially in the last few months when Helen's care became more demanding.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Dayton who provided exceptional service and support in time of our need.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Centerville, Ohio. Fr. Tom Schmidt will be the Celebrant.

Burial will take place at a later date in Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
