MAY, Martin R. "Marty", 85, of Huber Heights, passed away January 5, 2018. He was born January 10, 1932 in Dayton, the son of the late Martin F. and Elizabeth May. Marty was an Air Force veteran and served our great country in the Korean War. He was employed by General Motors for 33 years. He also owned Marty's Sinclair Station on Rt. 48 in the late 1950s. Marty will be remembered for his love of life, smile, and giving nature.
Marty met no strangers; everyone was a friend. Brace Beagling was the sport he loved. He was a member and president of Clark County Beagle Club for many years. He had several Field Champions over the years and co-owned the Purina Award Winner in 2006.
There was no "in-law" or "step" with Marty. Family is family. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Ida; daughter and son, Kim and Robert Croft; grandson, Bobby Croft; great-grandsons, Mason and Tyler Croft; and faithful beagle, Patti Kake. Marty is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Buddy, Linda, Jessica, Doug, Lucas, Bill, Kim, Kayla, Ashley, Nick, Jen, and Reagan. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy and niece, Joani. There are also many cherished friends, neighbors, and beagle buddies from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, and Pennsylvania who held a special place in Marty's life.
In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and J Cockerham.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors who cared for Marty, Dr. Jain, Dr. Mullapudi, Dr. Odunsi, Dr. Shah, and Dr. Wenzke.
Celebration of Marty's Life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek) at 1:30pm. Visitation will be held for two hours prior (11:30am - 1:30pm). Please dress casually, as Marty would have wanted. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marty's memory to Honor Flight Dayton, 200 Canary Ct., Enon, Ohio 45323. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
