Virginia Mae Griffin, age 93, of Dayton, OH, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017. She was born April 18, 1924 in Dayton, Ohio to Vincent and Leona (Sifferlin) McMahon. Virginia married Edward J. Griffin on May 30, 1942 in Dayton, OH.
Virginia enjoyed floral arranging, crafting and ballroom dancing with her beloved Eddie. Virginia was the past president of the F.O.E. 321 Ladies Auxiliary and the KofC 3730, was a member of the Free Spirits at Immaculate Conception, NAUM Catholic Association, V.F.W. 9927 and the Red Hats. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Virginia is survived by her two daughters, Doris "Dodie" Lockwood, Angela (Donald) Rose; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lockwood, Keith (Phyllis) Rose, John "Jake" (Heather) Lockwood, Darlene (John) Loose, Cheryl (Terry) Pickerill and Shelley Rose; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Eileen Osterfeld; Jennifer and Jake's father, Jim Lockwood; and numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Eddie; a grandson, Greg Rose; a brother, Paul McMahon; and two sisters, Rita Koors and Ruth Howley.
The family would like to thank the staffs at The Sanctuary at Wilmington Place and Kettering Medical Center for their loving care of Virginia and her family.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 411 East Second Street, Dayton, OH 45402. Visitation will be Thursday, October 26 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory - Beavercreek Chapel , 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Burial will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.
