Kattie Childress

December 31, 1941 — September 24, 2017

MOTHER EDITH KAY CHILDRESS (KATIE), passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at the age of 75. She was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Haliburton) Bishop. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Elder Marvin Childress, one son; Timothy Bishop, two sisters; Barbara Lark and Judy Belcher, two brothers; Michael Bishop and John Bishop, and a very dear friend, Lula Wilson.

Katie leaves to celebrate her life one son; Anthony (Tony) Bishop, two granddaughters; Terriona and Catrice Bryant, six nieces; Keena Madden, Terri (Billy) Briggins, Delores (Michael) Kelso of Dayton, Ohio, Sonya Belcher of Baltimore MD, Marilyn and Connie Childress, five nephews; Joey Belcher, Jeffery Belcher, Stevie Bishop, Steven Childress, and Scotty Childress, five great-nieces; Ebony Grant, Brittany Belcher, Ashley Belcher, Nicole Belcher, Brianna Madden, three great-great nieces; Sommer, Ashanti, and the love of her heart, Miracle. Miracle and Auntie Katie were inseparable! Auntie Katie was known as "Team Ebony". Two God-children; Lady G, and Vicky Scandrick. Special friends; Mother Bertha Barney, Mona Scandrick, Missionary Deborah Clack, Dorothy Ackah, childhood friends; Sister Barbara Shackleford and Sister Florence Brown, and a host of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Missionary Vicky Holmes, Charmaine Dunn, and Elder Adam Wilson.

Mother Childress was a member of Prayer Garden COGIC, and later became a member of Faith deliverance COGIC for over 32 years under the previous leadership of Superintendent Norman J. McDuffie, and current Pastor, Terence O. Hayes, Sr. She served as a Missionary and later became a Mother on the Mother's Board, and lastly, became the Church Mother and served in that capacity for several years. Her favorite saying was "do you hate me because I tell you the truth?" She was a sweet and humble woman of God. She loved shopping, reading the Word, and listening to gospel music.

Heaven now has the best Angels ever……………...Ours!!
