Jim went to be with the Lord Thursday morning. Jim was originally from Eastern Kentucky town of Inez and a graduate of Morehead State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in education. He was a teacher and principal for Dayton City Schools from 1962 until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his wife; Belinda C. Staton, Daughter; Elizabeth Parmenter of Dayton Ohio, Granddaughter; Jamie Ostick Mason, his son; James Staton III of Zionsville Indiana and his sister Shirly Sluss of Ashland Kentucky.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek chapel with a service at 7:00 pm.
