Cecil R. Allbright, age 68 of Englewood, passed away August 25, 2017. He was born February 17, 1949 in Richmond, IN to the late Cecil F. Allbright and Carrie Kesling. In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Allbright.
He is survived by his children, David Allbright, William Allbright, Michael (Isabelle Crickmore) Allbright, and Lani (Cae Landry) Allbright; grandchildren, Renée (Jake) Pardue and Zack Allbright; sister, Graceanne (Robert) Rix; significant other, Alice Meyer; uncle, Robert (Wanda) Byrne and numerous cousins, extended family, and friends.
Cecil thrived in the outdoors, surrounded by nature's beauty. Nothing made him happier than a chilly morning on the lake during duck season or finding the perfect patch of mushrooms. His passion for wildlife led him to found several local chapters of Ducks Unlimited and eventually become state chairman for the organization. His leadership helped to raise money to conserve wetlands across North America. One of his proudest moments was winning the Top Flight award for the Preble County chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
Cecil had an incredibly strong work ethic. He was creative and thoughtful. He loved to build and fix things and his wit and humor could not be matched. One of his most admirable traits was his aptitude in the role of a father. He always took an interest in anything his kids did, always supporting them and encouraging their passions. He was the type of dad who would never miss a sporting event or band concert, even despite battling illness for many years.
No truer words can be said about Cecil than that he was the strongest of warriors. He fought with an inspiring level of vigor and life for sixteen years against the toughest of enemies, cancer. His whole life he proved himself to be an example of strength and perseverance. This man has greatly impacted those around him and he will not soon be forgotten. He will live on through those that love him.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-6 PM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. where a Celebration of Cecil's Life will begin at 6 PM.
